Complaint and suggestion boxes
Complaints and suggestions boxes are installed so that a visitor can leave their feedback in writing without having to speak to a member of staff. The link to accessibility is direct: for someone with a hearing or speech impairment a written channel is often the only comfortable way to make contact, and a long queue or a noisy hall makes a spoken approach effectively impossible.
The boxes are intended for government and administrative buildings, hospitals and clinics, schools and universities, bank branches, retail complexes, hotels and transport facilities. A wall-mounted set usually consists of a stainless steel body and an acrylic window: the body is robust and lockable, while the acrylic window is used to display a notice or the text explaining how to submit feedback. Mounting position matters — a box placed too high or off to one side does not get used in practice, so it belongs in the entrance area, visible and easy to approach.
- Wall-mounted set — stainless steel and acrylic
- Lockable body — keeps submissions confidential
- Acrylic window for a notice and submission procedure
- Versions for the entrance area and reception desk
When choosing, account for mounting height (a person in a wheelchair must be able to reach it), box capacity and the emptying routine, wall material and fixing method, and whether there is a surface and a pen nearby for writing. Placing a tactile sign and high-contrast text beside the box means a visitor with impaired sight can find it too — solutions are selected taking accessibility norm requirements into account.
