Audio-tactile help call systems

Audio-tactile assistance call systems are combined units installed at a building entrance so that a visitor with impaired sight or hearing can call for help. They work through three channels at once: a tactile sign with Braille helps locate the unit by touch, the call button sends a signal to staff, and an induction channel links directly to a hearing aid. Together these let a visitor summon help without a companion.

The systems are designed for the entrances of government offices, banks and service centres, hospitals and clinics, railway stations and airports, museums and libraries, and educational institutions. An induction (audio) hearing system cuts out background noise: sound reaches the hearing aid through a magnetic field rather than through the air, so speech stays intelligible even in a crowded hall. In the combined version the stand, information sign, call button and receiver are supplied as one solution, so the entrance point does not have to be assembled piece by piece.

When choosing, consider the entrance type (street or lobby), the height of the unit and the approach route to it, where staff receive the signal, and the coverage radius of the induction loop.
