Lifts & platform lifts

Lifts and platform lifts negotiate a change in level mechanically where building a ramp is not possible. Gradient requirements for a ramp demand considerable length: rising one metre at a gentle slope needs something like ten metres of run. A narrow staircase, a historic building or a tight site cannot provide that — and a lift then becomes the only realistic solution.

These units are intended for the entrances of public buildings, government offices, hospitals and clinics, educational institutions, museums and theatres, and transport facilities. An inclined rail platform lift travels along the existing staircase: the platform unfolds at the bottom, the wheelchair rolls on and is carried up, and when not in use the platform folds away and leaves the stairs clear. A hydraulic lift for railway carriages addresses a separate problem — it bridges the difference between platform height and carriage floor and works together with a ramp.

  • Inclined rail platform lift fitted to an existing staircase
  • Vertical platform lifts for smaller level differences
  • Hydraulic lift for railway carriages, with ramp
  • Folding platforms that leave the stairs clear when parked

When choosing, account for the travel height, stair width and any turns, platform size and load capacity, the power supply and any requirement for backup power. Control buttons must be at a height the user can reach themselves and are planned together with an assistance call button — solutions are selected taking accessibility norm requirements into account.
