Evacuation direction signs

Evacuation direction indicators are arrow signs that point to the shortest and safest route toward emergency exits. They show which way to move along corridors, through halls and across stairwells, so that during a fire or another emergency people do not waste time or panic. Clear "exit this way" signs help staff, visitors and people with reduced mobility (PRM) alike — including people with disabilities, the elderly and parents with children.

Most signs are photoluminescent: they absorb ambient light and keep glowing in the dark during a power outage or heavy smoke, staying visible all the way along the path. When choosing, consider the length of the escape routes, the mounting height, the lighting level and the direction of pedestrian flow.
