Ramps (accessibility for people with reduced mobility)

Ramps are devices that create an inclined surface for negotiating a change in level. Unlike a permanent cast ramp, a ramp of this kind is portable or modular: it can be installed without building work and removed or relocated when needed. That makes them the principal solution for entrances with one or two steps, for leased premises, and for sites where permanent reconstruction is not possible.

These ramps are intended for the entrance areas of public buildings, shops and pharmacies, offices and bank branches, hospitals and clinics, schools and nurseries, transport use and private use. Folding suitcase-type and telescopic models travel with the wheelchair and take up little room when folded. Rubber ramps smooth out small level changes (roughly 4-6.5 cm) and level off a threshold at a doorway. A modular aluminium system allows a longer incline to be assembled: platforms and guard rails are added, and the surface is produced with anti-slip chequering.

  • Folding portable suitcase-type ramp for transport
  • Telescopic channel ramps — twin track, adjustable length
  • Rubber ramps — for small level changes and door thresholds
  • Modular aluminium ramp — with platform and guard rail

When choosing, account for the height to be negotiated and the length it implies (the gentler the gradient, the safer), the combined weight of chair and user, the surface type, and whether installation is permanent or temporary. A long incline needs a guard rail and a landing — solutions are selected taking accessibility norm requirements into account. We will measure your entrance height and calculate the right length — request a free consultation.
