Colour tactile indicator — pink (bar and stud)

Pink (coral) tactile indicators suit places where the environment should feel friendly rather than alarming. In a nursery, a primary classroom or a children's hospital a yellow-and-black warning strip looks like industrial signage; pink does the same job without making the setting feel anxious. This is not a cosmetic choice: when a child is not frightened, they approach the marking and use it.

The indicator comes in two forms. The bar continuously shows the way from a playroom to the washroom or from a classroom to the stairs, while the stud marks the stopping zone at the head of a staircase and in front of a door. The diamond relief is felt underfoot and through a cane tip; in a children's facility the anti-slip property is especially valuable, since running and a damp floor are everyday conditions there.

• Bar element — continuous wayfinding from room to room
• Stud element — stopping zone at stairs and doorways
• Diamond anti-slip relief — important for wet floors and running
• Suitable indoors and outdoors, adhesive or mechanical fixing

The pink version is chosen for nurseries, schools, children's clinics and rehabilitation centres, family leisure centres, and beauty and wellness salons. If a children's facility has a user with impaired sight, the pink guidance lane is best supplemented with a higher-contrast colour at the key hazard points.
